A separate Dasoon Pte. Ltd. was incorporated in 2017 with the principal activity of trading and wholesaling eggs and egg products. 2
Origins
Dasoon traces its roots to an egg-laying farm in Choa Chu Kang. According to its official company history, the business began in 1975 as a farm. The company’s About Us page, meanwhile, describes Dasoon as being founded in 1978, so the company’s own website contains two slightly different founding-year references. 3
As Singapore developed and land use changed, Dasoon moved away from its original farming operation. It subsequently moved into importing and distributing eggs, eventually becoming a supplier to supermarkets, markets, convenience stores, food stalls and other food businesses.
1980s
During the 1980s, Dasoon expanded beyond ordinary fresh eggs and began offering preserved and salted duck eggs, sourcing products from countries including Vietnam and China.
1990s
In the 1990s, the company moved its operations into a shophouse and began importing eggs from Malaysia. Its distribution network expanded to include markets, convenience stores, food stalls and major supermarkets.
2004: Bird-flu disruption
One of the more significant moments in Dasoon’s history came during the 2004 bird-flu crisis.
This experience became part of the company’s broader emphasis on having multiple international sources for eggs rather than depending on a single country.
2010: Expansion
As demand increased, Dasoon moved into a larger facility at Wcega Plaza in 2010. The move was intended to increase operational capacity and improve efficiency.
2013: Liquid eggs
In 2013, Dasoon expanded into pasteurized liquid eggs, including whole egg, egg yolk and egg white products. Pasteurization allows the products to be used conveniently while providing additional food-safety controls.
2018: Cooked quail eggs
In 2018, amid a shortage of quail eggs in Singapore, Dasoon expanded into cooked and peeled quail eggs, targeting customers who wanted to reduce the labour required to boil and peel eggs.
2020: Supply resilience
During the COVID-19 period, Dasoon’s efforts to maintain alternative sources of supply received recognition from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA). The company says it imported Singapore’s first eggs from Poland during this period, and then-Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing visited its facility.
2023: International sourcing
By 2023, Dasoon reported sourcing eggs from countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Poland, Ukraine and Turkey. The company described this diversification as a contingency strategy to ensure supply continuity for Singapore. It also reported selling approximately 1.2 million shell eggs per day in Singapore at that time.
2024: New food facility
In January 2024, after three years of planning and design, Dasoon moved into a new standalone facility at 12 Wan Lee Road in Singapore’s JTC-designated Food Factory Zone.
Products
Dasoon’s portfolio is much broader than conventional fresh eggs. Its official product catalogue currently includes:
- Fresh shell eggs
- Pasteurized liquid whole eggs
- Pasteurized liquid egg yolks
- Pasteurized liquid egg whites
- Salted eggs
- Century eggs
- Quail eggs
- Cooked quail eggs
- Salted egg yolks
- Cooked salted eggs
- Hard-boiled eggs
- Soft-boiled eggs
- Soy-braised soft-boiled eggs
- Braised cooked quail eggs
- Other prepared and ready-to-eat egg products
This makes Dasoon more accurately described as an egg-products company rather than simply an egg brand.
Fresh eggs
Fresh shell eggs remain one of Dasoon’s most recognizable product categories. Historical Singapore Health Promotion Board product listings include products such as Dasoon Premium Fresh Eggs, Dasoon Brand Premium Fresh Eggs, Dasoon High Quality Fresh Eggs Grade AA, Dasoon Soya Corn Fresh Eggs and various Dasoon farm-fresh egg products.
Dasoon products are also currently listed by NTUC FairPrice, including Premium Fresh Eggs, Farm Fresh Eggs, Soya Corn Fresh Eggs and Sanitised Omega Fresh Eggs. 4
Processed and ready-to-eat eggs
A major part of Dasoon’s modern strategy is convenience.
Its hard-boiled eggs, for example, are marketed as ready-to-eat products that eliminate the need for customers to boil and peel eggs themselves. Dasoon says its hard-boiled eggs are SFA-approved and have HALAL and HACCP certification.
The company similarly offers cooked quail eggs, salted eggs, soft-boiled eggs and braised egg products, allowing food-service customers and consumers to reduce preparation time and labour.
Food safety and quality
Food safety is a central part of Dasoon’s positioning.
The company states that it has attained ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System certification and undergoes annual audits by third-party auditors. It also maintains dedicated Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) personnel.
Dasoon says batches of eggs undergo quality checks before delivery and emphasizes freshness, competitive pricing and delivery reliability.
For certain ready-to-eat products, the company additionally highlights HACCP and HALAL certification.
Supply chain
One of Dasoon’s defining characteristics is its diversified sourcing strategy.
Rather than relying exclusively on domestic production, the company imports eggs from multiple countries. Its historical list includes:
- Malaysia
- Thailand
- Brunei
- Indonesia
- Poland
- Ukraine
- Turkey
- Australia
- Vietnam and China for certain preserved egg products
The strategy is particularly important for Singapore, which relies heavily on food imports and has limited agricultural land. Dasoon explicitly describes its multi-country sourcing as a way of ensuring continuity of supply during disruptions.
Distribution
Dasoon operates as both an importer/wholesaler and a supplier to retail and food-service channels. Its company history says it supplies markets, convenience stores, food stalls and major supermarkets.
The company also maintains its own delivery operation. Dasoon says it has more than 20 drivers and trucks, including chiller trucks, enabling islandwide delivery in Singapore.
Its current listed facilities are:
Headquarters
96 Jalan Jurong Kechil
Singapore 598599
Warehouse / food facility
12 Wan Lee Road
Singapore 627944
Position in Singapore’s egg market
Dasoon’s significance comes partly from its long history and partly from the breadth of its operations.
Rather than competing solely as a consumer-facing supermarket egg brand, it operates across several layers of the supply chain:
International sourcing β importing β quality control β processing/repacking β wholesale β supermarket/food-service distribution
That gives Dasoon a role that is closer to a food supply-chain specialist than a conventional packaged-food brand.
Its presence in supermarket listings and its reported distribution of approximately 1.2 million shell eggs per day demonstrate the scale of its Singapore operations.
Brand positioning
Dasoon’s brand positioning can broadly be summarized around four ideas:
- Freshness β supplying fresh shell eggs and maintaining quality controls.
- Food safety β ISO 22000, QA/QC procedures and certifications for relevant products.
- Reliability β maintaining multiple international sources to reduce supply disruptions.
- Convenience β expanding from raw eggs into pasteurized liquid eggs and ready-to-eat products.
This evolution reflects the changing needs of Singapore’s food industry: from simply supplying whole eggs to providing ingredients and prepared products that save restaurants, bakeries, manufacturers and consumers time and labour.
Dasoon today
Today, Dasoon presents itself as “Singapore’s Trusted Importer and Wholesaler of Quality Egg Products.” Its business encompasses fresh eggs, processed eggs, liquid egg products and ready-to-eat products. 1
The company has therefore evolved through several stages:
Local egg farm β egg importer β wholesale distributor β diversified egg-product supplier β integrated food-product business.
Its long operating history, international sourcing network, processing capabilities and supermarket/food-service distribution make Dasoon one of the more established names in Singapore’s egg-product industry.
