History
Foundation (1910)
Everlast was founded by Jacob Golomb, a 17-year-old son of a tailor and an avid swimmer. Frustrated by the poor durability of swimsuits available at the time, Golomb designed swimwear that he guaranteed would last for a full year. He named the company “Everlast” to emphasise durability and longevity.1
Entry into Boxing (1917)
The company’s direction changed dramatically when boxer Jack Dempsey approached Jacob Golomb to create protective boxing headgear capable of lasting through intense training sessions exceeding 15 rounds.
Everlast soon developed:
- Boxing gloves
- Protective headgear
- Training equipment
- Punching bags
When Jack Dempsey won the World Heavyweight Championship in 1919 wearing Everlast gloves, the brand quickly became associated with professional boxing.2

Throughout the 20th century, Everlast became the preferred equipment supplier for many legendary fighters, including:
- Muhammad Ali
- Joe Frazier

Its products became standard equipment in gyms and championship fights around the world.1
