About Gordon Miller
Overview
GORDON MILLER is a Japanese automotive and garage-lifestyle brand established by AUTOBACS SEVEN in 2017. The brand focuses on extending the enjoyment of car ownership into the garage, outdoors, travel, work, and everyday life. Its current concept is “CHARGE UP, GARAGE LIFE.” 1
2017: Launch
GORDON MILLER was launched in July 2017 as a private brand of AUTOBACS. It emerged from AUTOBACS’s lifestyle-brand activities, targeting individuals interested in caring for their cars as well as the surrounding garage and workspace. The initial product range included practical automotive items such as car-wash shampoo, coating products, and sponges, emphasizing functionality combined with distinctive design.
2019: Expansion
Around 2019, GORDON MILLER expanded beyond conventional car accessories into garage clothing, furniture, outdoor equipment, tools, storage, lifestyle goods, and van-life products. AUTOBACS described this direction as a lifestyle extending outward from the garage. The brand was presented at Tokyo Auto Salon 2019 with a broader garage, outdoor, and lifestyle concept.
In the same year, the brand introduced GORDON MILLER MOTORS, its vehicle label. Instead of selling only accessories for existing vehicles, GORDON MILLER began creating complete vehicles based on its aesthetic and lifestyle philosophy. Early concepts involved customizing vehicles such as the Toyota Hiace and Nissan NV200/Vanette for functional, outdoor-oriented, and lifestyle-focused use. This shifted the brand from an automotive goods provider to a mobility lifestyle brand. 2
2022: First Direct Store
In January 2022, GORDON MILLER opened its first directly operated store, GORDON MILLER KURAMAE, in Sumida, Tokyo. This location allowed the company to present the brand’s entire world more coherently than conventional AUTOBACS retail spaces.
2024: WORKS UTILITY
In July 2024, the brand launched WORKS UTILITY by GORDON MILLER, built around the concept “働くをカッコよく” (“Make working cool”). The initiative focused on people working in agriculture and other essential industries, expanding the brand’s lifestyle concept from garage and van life toward work and farm life.
2025: Corporate Restructuring and New Stores
The GORDON MILLER business was transferred from AUTOBACS SEVEN to Fatra Styling, a company founded in 1986 that specialized in custom complete vehicles and aero parts. In April 2025, Fatra Styling changed its corporate name to GORDON MILLER Inc., creating a dedicated company for the brand while retaining AUTOBACS SEVEN as its 100% shareholder.
In July 2025, the second directly operated store, GORDON MILLER YAMAGA, opened in Kitsuki, Oita Prefecture. As of June 30, 2026, the company listed two domestic directly operated stores.
Brand Philosophy
GORDON MILLER treats the garage as the starting point of a lifestyle. The brand proposes a lifestyle that expands outward from the garage containing one’s vehicle, using products such as garage wear, furniture, outdoor gear, tools, car interiors, and car-wash products. This creates a connected sequence: Car → Garage → Outdoors → Travel → Work → Lifestyle. Consequently, GORDON MILLER products are designed to be appropriate in cars, garages, campsites, workshops, or homes. 3
Design Language
A recognizable characteristic of GORDON MILLER is its industrial, military, and workwear-inspired aesthetic. The brand favors olive drab and muted colors, black and earth tones, functional shapes, heavy-duty materials, and minimal branding. The visual language draws inspiration from military equipment, outdoor products, and workwear, adapted for contemporary Japanese lifestyle products. AUTOBACS has noted that its garage wear specifically references the functionality and atmosphere of these sectors. The resulting style combines Japanese automotive culture with military utility, outdoor, and industrial design elements.
Materials and Functionality
Durability is a key emphasis. Notable examples include collaborations with CORDURA® fabric, where specially specified CORDURA materials with water-resistant and PVC-backed construction are used for products intended to withstand demanding everyday use. The design philosophy dictates that appearance should derive from function rather than being purely decorative.
Product Categories
GORDON MILLER operates across several interconnected categories:
- Automotive: Includes car-wash equipment, cleaning products, sponges, brushes, microfiber cloths, car-care chemicals, interior accessories, storage, organizers, and vehicle accessories.
- Garage: Features storage equipment, tool-related products, containers, shelving, furniture, and utility goods, aiming to make the garage a place where people want to spend time.
- Apparel: Clothing designed for garage, outdoor, and work environments, combining workwear, outdoor clothing, and automotive culture aesthetics.
- Outdoor: Products extending the garage philosophy into camping and travel, including outdoor equipment, storage, camping accessories, folding products, and vehicle-based outdoor goods.
- Interior / Lifestyle: Items designed to move between vehicle, garage, and home settings.
GORDON MILLER MOTORS
GORDON MILLER MOTORS applies the brand philosophy to complete vehicles. Rather than treating vans solely as transportation, it approaches them as mobile lifestyle environments. Concepts connect with van life, camping, surfing, outdoor activities, road trips, DIY, work, cargo/storage, and long-distance travel. This represents an evolution from automotive accessories to a complete lifestyle vehicle.
WORKS UTILITY by GORDON MILLER
This sub-label focuses on making professional work environments more functional and visually appealing. By initially targeting agricultural workers, it expands the traditional customer base, addressing how places of work and living can be made more functional and enjoyable.
Retail Presence
GORDON MILLER products are distributed through AUTOBACS locations throughout Japan. AUTOBACS’s 2025 integrated report stated the brand was sold through its direct store and approximately 600 stores nationwide, with expansion toward overseas markets emphasized. Dedicated retail locations provide a comprehensive expression of the brand.

Target Customer
The brand targets lifestyle-oriented customers rather than general car owners. Typical interests include cars, Japanese vans, SUVs, camping, van life, DIY, garage culture, outdoor activities, workwear, industrial design, functional furniture, road trips, and custom vehicles. For this demographic, the car is often the center of the lifestyle rather than merely a means of transportation.
Differentiation
Unlike many automotive accessory brands, GORDON MILLER aims to create a complete visual and functional ecosystem. A customer might utilize GORDON MILLER cars, interior accessories, storage, clothing, camping equipment, and garage furniture, all sharing a similar design language. This approach aligns closer to a lifestyle brand strategy than a conventional automotive-accessories strategy.
Corporate Structure
As of 2026, the structure distinguishes between the consumer-facing brand and the operating entities:
| Entity | Role |
|---|---|
| GORDON MILLER | Consumer-facing brand |
| GORDON MILLER MOTORS | Vehicle label |
| WORKS UTILITY by GORDON MILLER | Work/lifestyle sub-label |
| GORDON MILLER Inc. | Operating company (formerly Fatra Styling) |

The current structure resulted from the 2025 integration of the GORDON MILLER business with Fatra Styling.
